So after what seemed like the longest summer in the world, it was finally time to return to hard work and a year filled with exciting media opportunities as Year 2 of Media Professional Studies at LJMU began again.
Over the summer I've had a lot of time to reflect on my favourite parts of the course and the topic on the whole and think about where I would like this subject to take me in the future. I've realised that I definitely want to work in television or radio as these two areas really interest me and the experience I've already had of them fascinates me. So this year I'm making a pledge to myself and all of you as witnesses that I'm going to do as much research as I can into the TV and radio industry so that I am equipped with as much knowledge as possible and can produce are more detailed career plan as planning has never been my forte! I've also been considering to look into careers in front of the camera as I like to entertain and quite a few people have suggested it to me - however this is a very unlikely career option as the chances of succeeding are minute but I can still try!
During the summer me and some friends also realised that we want to take filming more seriously and work on our media group 'Imagine That Media Productions'. Now although I don't want to be a filmmaker when I finish my degree I appreciate that this can help me hone various skills which can make my CV more attractive to a future employer. We had a filming job over the summer for 'South Liverpool Homes' filming a conference which we all got paid for and I found this an enlightening experience as it made me realise that I definitely don't want to me a cameraman in my career as I just don't find it enjoyable and find it difficult to work out what shots to use but I should still practice this more as the media is a 'jack of all trades' industry.
I'm very excited to see what will come up this year and see if my interests change and develop! This year we are doing a TV studio module which I definitely think will be my favourite as it is what I want to go into. I'm also definitely going to keep this blog more updated this year as again we are being marked on it. Feedback from last year suggests that I should take it more seriously and stop joking round in it which I definitely will try whilst trying to still retain a bit of my personality. Guess we will see how it goes!
Wish me luck for this year!!!
